Singapore Slingers’ star Xavier Alexander is looking forward to turning his achievements into an ABL title after being hailed as one of the ABL all-time greats.
Alexander expressed his gratitude for being inducted into the All-Time 10, and cannot wait for the season to commence.
“I feel honored to be here and I’m excited about the new season, and to be named top 10 with these other nine guys who are all great players,” Alexander said.
With his induction towards the All-Time 10, the reigning Import MVP is glad that all of his hard work, dedication, and relentlessness have paid off and gained recognition in the league.
Despite having setbacks in their three finals appearances in the last four seasons, he still has his eyes on the ABL championship. For Alexander, he has one goal: to secure the trophy that has eluded him for years.
Alexander shared, “To be honest with you, man, at this point in my career, there’s only one goal for me and that is the ABL title. Not just to make a finals appearance—none of that.”
Coming off from a devastating loss last season, X-Man assures fans that in the tenth season, he is all about putting more work in for the team and the whole organization is ready to make a run for it.
As the Slingers focus on their championship hopes, they have retooled their roster, particularly with the return of local swingman Leon Kwek and signing of perennial Import MVP contender Marcus Elliott.
With Elliott playing for the Slingers, Alexander is excited that a player of a high caliber will be joining him on the hardcourt.
“It’s still surreal to me,” Alexander mentioned. “In my five years, I haven’t played with anybody of the caliber of Marcus Elliott… I look forward to him being part of our team and hopefully, he can help us bring that title we have been chasing for years.”
Not only is a championship season possible with them both cladding the red and gold, but he believes that their duo has what it takes to be the strongest backcourt in the ABL—noting that their versatility will be their asset.
“I definitely think we have a chance to be one of the strongest backcourts, you know I can play point guard; I can play 1 to 4, he can play 1 to 3, so I look forward to helping us be a little bit more versatile and I also look forward to us to be a lot more explosive on the offensive end.”
Given the pressure and the expectations focused on them, Xavier is all out this season for the Slingers community.
“I’m looking forward to the season, looking forward to grinding… getting down and dirty for the ABL championship,” X-Man remarked. “I appreciate you guys, let’s be loud, let’s be proud this year, I think together, we can bring home the title.”
