The Westports Malaysia Dragons have officially announced the signing of Will Artino for the 2019-2020 season. Artino will serve as the team’s second import after the acquisition of American guard Amir Bell.
In a statement on the Dragon’s Instagram page, Head Coach Jamie Pearlman said, “I am very excited to be working with Will this season. He is a very mobile big who is great in transition and also a creative playmaker in the post.”
Standing at 6’11”, Artino proved to be one of the most versatile big men in the league last season. The American showed that he can effectively score in the post while also being able to knock down shots from the perimeter.
During the 2018-2019 season, Artino helped lead the Formosa Dreamers to the #1 seed as he put up averages of 20.7 PPG, 10.7 RPG, and 3.1 APG while shooting 50% from the field.
When asked about the signing, Artino replied: ” When the opportunity presented itself to come back to the ABL…it was a no brainer.”
According to reports, Artino will be joining the team sometime next week.
“I’m very excited to get to [Kuala Lumpur] and meet all my new teammates and start to get to work and prepare for ABL10,” added Artino.
