Mono Vampire Basketball Club kept its quest for the top two alive as they scored their biggest win of the season with a 105-92 victory over the Chong Son Kung Fu, Wednesday night at the Stadium 29 in Bangkok.
Mike Singletary had another monstrous season-high stat-line as he finished with 41 points, 19 rebounds, and 9 assists, punishing all defenders sent his way with his inside-outside attacks. The prolific import shot well from the three-point range as he made 5 of 7 threes in the contest including a dagger at the 1:42 mark of the fourth that gave Mono Vampire a 100-89 advantage.
The much-awaited clash of the titans between Sam Deguara and Justin Howard did not disappoint as the two behemoths provided their teams huge numbers. Deguara had 24 points and 19 rebounds while Howard finished with 28 points and 9 rebounds.
The big difference in the game was the second quarter explosion by Mono Vampire as they waxed hot from the three-point range. Paul Zamar connected with three triples in the period with Darongpan Apiromvilaichai ending the quarter with his own triple to build a 56-47 lead at the half.
The Kung Fu rallied multiple times in the second half but they were never able to wrest the control of the game from the home team as Singletary always had an answer. For the away team, it also did not help that they were clobbered in the rebounding department, 57 to 31, and lost the battle in second-chance points, 20 to 7.
The battle of both teams’ Filipino Heritage Imports was also very interesting as Jason Brickman had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists while Zamar had 13 points and 3 rebounds for Mono Vampire.
Mikh McKinney finished with 14 markers and 7 rebounds for Kung Fu but they only got 12 points and 5 rebounds from Caelan Tiongson who was in foul trouble for much of the game as he was tasked to slow down Singletary.
Two locals from both teams also finished in double digits with Apiromvilaichai scoring 10 points while Luo Yongxuan had 14 points.
The win promotes Mono Vampire Basketball Club to 3rd in the standings, while bumps Chong Son Kung Fu all the way down to 4th place.
These two teams will meet against with Chong Son Kung Fu hosting the rematch on March 7.
