The Chong Son Kung Fu Basketball Club barged into the ABL playoffs after scoring a huge win over the Mono Vampire Basketball Club, 113-95, on Wednesday at the Nanhai Gymnasium.
Anthony Tucker showcased his best ABL performance so far as he fired away a season-high 35 points on an amazing 13-for-25 shooting clip, including 5 triples. He was all over the floor, tallying 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
Justin Howard was just as stellar with his double-double outing of 26 points and 13 boards.
With Tucker and Howard doing the most damage against their opponent, Chong Son was able to halt their two-game slide and get revenge from their loss to Mono last week.
The home victory also secured Chong Son with a playoff berth, alongside Mono, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas, and Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team.
Michael Singletary nearly single-handedly changed the outcome of the game with his 37-point outing. The last time the two teams met, Singletary also had a huge game of 41 points to steer the Mono victory. Wednesday’s clash turned out to be a different case with Singletary needing help from his teammates to outfield Tucker.
It was in the fourth quarter when Chong Son finally pulled way. They were up by just 7 points at the beginning of the period but, poured it on midway thanks to timely shots by Tucker and Chongren He. A gutsy three-pointer by He pushed Chong Son’s lead to 19 with 4:50 remaining.
Chong Son improved to a 10-5 record, good for third place in the standings. Mono trails them at the number four spot with a 12-6 record.
