The Saigon Heat makes its highly awaited Season 10 ASEAN Basketball League debut, as they face off against the Mono Vampire Basketball Club in the first game day of the brand new year.
The Heat will host Mono Vampire at 7:00 PM GMT +7 at the CIS Arena in Saigon, Vietnam.
The reloaded Heat are one of the teams to look out for, as they boast of a deep lineup filled with reliable veteran imports, as well as one of the best local crews in the entire league. New players like Tam Dinh and the return of Chris Charles to the ABL will definitely excite the fans of the Heat, hungry for the team to make a deep run this season.
Though the Heat are still looking for its first playoff series victory in ABL history, they were still able to achieve something special by winning a game before falling to the eventual champions, the CLS Knights. They should be able to come closer this season because of the staggering amount of talent by both locals and imports.
Chris Charles returns to reinforce the Heat this season. One of the greatest players in ABL history, Saigon is hoping that Charles will be able to stay healthy this season, The former ABL Defensive Player of the Year is an absolute game-changer on that end, and will have a huge role to play for the Heat to go deep into the Playoffs.
Fresh from helping lead Vietnam to a medal finishes in the 3×3 and 5×5 SEA Games tournament, Chris Dierker returns for his second season the ABL and should be in line for a bigger role this season. His athleticism and improved shooting will help the Heat, and his dunks will definitely thrill the fans.
Mono Vampire, on the other hand, are eager to build on the strong start to the season, currently holding a 4-1 card and tied for the top seed together with San Miguel Alab Pilipinas. Once again, the 1-2 punch of Mike Singletary and Tyler Lamb paid dividends for the team, as they were able to make easy work of Hong Kong Eastern.
Mono Vampire broke open a close game in the third quarter, unleashing a 9-0 run to make it a 66-51 lead which they never surrendered, eventually taking the 98-75 win. The hot shooting of Mono Vampire continued, as they made 12 triples.
The ever-reliable Mike Singletary continues to churn out rock-solid numbers, as he scored 24 points and 14 rebounds in the win versus Hong Kong. Singletary provides stability for Mono Vampire, and that was in full effect in their hot start this season.
Both the Heat and Mono Vampire are looking to start 2020 strong. Which team will be able to start the year on the right foot?
