Head Coach of the Saigon Heat Kyle Julius has been suspended for the remainder of their ongoing playoff series against San Miguel Alab Pilipinas, the league announced on Thursday.
The Heat mentor was charged with two technical fouls during Alab’s 110-100 Game 1 victory over the Heat on April 1 at FilOil Flying V Centre, San Juan City.
Per league rules, a player or coach will automatically be suspended for one game after incurring a fifth technical foul of the season. All additional technical fouls following the infraction will subsequently merit more suspensions.
Julius was assessed a technical foul with 3:34 left in the first quarter, accounting for his fifth of the season, resulting in an automatic suspension the following game.
Later in the second quarter with 2:00 left, Julius was slapped with his second technical foul and was ejected from the game. This marked his sixth technical foul of the season, developing in an additional one-game suspension.
Julius will serve his first suspension on Saturday, April 7, when Saigon hosts Alab Pilipinas in Game 2 of their quarterfinals series.
If the series goes to a third and deciding game, Julius will also have to sit out due to his second suspension. He will be unavailable when Saigon visits Alab Pilipinas at Sta. Rosa Multi-Sports Complex on Wednesday, April 11.
This is the Heat’s 4th consecutive year making it to the ABL post-season but have yet to secure a win in all of their past 7 playoff games.
