Only two games were on tap for week 5 of the ASEAN Basketball League but we still witnessed a handful of spectacular individual performances from our players.
After three weeks of domination by the regular imports, an ASEAN Heritage import took home the award this time as Moses Morgan led the Saigon Heat to a huge 91-82 victory over the Westports Malaysia Dragons at home.
Moses Morgan helped his team on all aspects as the gunned for a triple-double and ended up with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
Morgan’s offense stemmed mostly from the outside as he torched Malaysia with six triples in the game. His shooting opened up the floor for the rest of his teammates to help them get the hard-earned victory.
Saigon’s Lenny Daniel and David Arnold also had good showings against the Dragons.
Daniel also scored 22 points while getting 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks, while Arnold scattered 17 points with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals
Also finishing in this week’s honorable mentions are Dragons Matt Wright and Jason Brickman. Wright, the league’s leading scorer, dropped 24 points on the Heat while adding 4 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block while Brickman stuffed the stat-sheet once more with 3 rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal.
In the week’s other game, Anthony McClain starred for Mono Vampire as they got the first win in franchise history at the expense of the free-falling Pilipinas MX3 Kings. The big man in the middle had 17 points, 18 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 assist.
