It was a busy week in the ASEAN Basketball League with five games on schedule. Hi-Tech Bangkok City was by far the busiest team, playing three of the five games scheduled for Week 6 and so it’s only fitting that one of them will receive the Player of the Week honors.
Fred Goldstein started the week with a 27-point explosion versus the Singapore Slingers. He added 5 rebounds and 2 assists but it was not enough as they lost their first game of the season 84-65
He followed it up with a more efficient performance against Mono Vampire as he finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals without a single turnover for a 77-65 bounce-back win. Goldsteain capped off his week with an amazing stat-line with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 10 steals in a 74-70 victory over the Saigon Heat.
The Hi-Tech guard narrowly defeated the two imports of the Singapore Slingers who led their team to a 2-0 record this week.
Justin Howard had 29 points and 13 rebounds versus the defending champions and 31 points, 21 rebounds, and 5 assists against the Pilipinas MX3 Kings
Xavier Alexander, on the other hand had stat-lines of 15 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 24 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists in the same two games.
Arizona Reid tried to carry the fight for the Kings this week as he played center finishing with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists in their 86-67 loss to the Slingers.
Reggie Johnson finished the week strong with a 30-point, 5-rebound performance capped by a rim-crushing dunk.
