With the SEA Games 2017 less than two months away, the Philippines National Team Head Coach Chot Reyes recently announced that he has already submitted his 12-player roster for the regional tournament.
Among the twelve players were ASEAN Basketball League players Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Raymar Jose, and Kiefer Ravena.
Jose and Ravena were both among the first called to National Team practice earlier this month, while Parks was added to the list of participants later. Since Kiefer Ravena was playing in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, the trio were never complete in attendance prior to this past Tuesday night’s practice.
According to Coach Chot Reyes, the other 9 players called up to the Philippines National Team includes Baser Amer, Mike Tolomia, Von Pessumal, Kevin Ferrer, Carl Bryan Cruz, Troy Rosario, Almond Vosotros, Kobe Paras, and Christian Standhardinger.
This will be the 4th time for Ravena playing in the SEA Games after winning three straight gold medals in 2011, 2013, and 2015. Aside from Ravena, the gold medalists from SEA Games 2015 are Amer, Ferrer, Rosario, and Vosotros. Parks Jr. was not on the SEA Games 2015 squad but won Gold Medals for the event both in 2011 and 2013. This will be the first time playing in the SEA Games for Raymar Jose, but he had already played for the National Team in the SEABA Stankovic 2016 tournament.
The SEA Games 2017 will be held in Kuala Lumpar from August 19-30. The basketball event will be hosted at the MABA Stadium.
