Executing with precision on both ends of the floor, the Mono Vampire Basketball Club earned their fourth win in ABL Season 10, toppling Hong Kong Eastern, 98-75, Sunday at Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
Mike Singletary top-scored with 24 points while pulling down 14 rebounds. Ryan Watkins was right behind with his 17-point, 8-rebound outing. Thailand also got a huge boost off the bench as Freddie Lish fired 15 points and Tyler Lamb contributed 14 points, six boards, and five assists.
It was in the third quarter when Mono Vampire started to create separation. Led by Singletary, the home team turned a six-point game midway through the period into a 66-51 lead using a 9-0 run. Mono continued to hold court as they built a 71-56 advantage heading into the final frame.
Hong Kong tried to mount a comeback in the fourth but could find consistency on offense. Back-to-back hits from Singletary gave Mono a 24-point lead, 88-64, with five minutes left turning the contest into a lopsided affair.
Thailand shot the lights out from deep, hitting 12-of-30 triples. Lamb and Lish led the onslaught from the outside as they knocked down three 3-pointers each. Mono Vampire also did a tremendous job defensively as they held Eastern to 34 percent shooting, including 9-for-35 from beyond the arc.
Trey Kell did all he could with 26 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Michael Holyfield submitted a double-double effort of 18 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out while new addition Brandon Costner had a solid ABL debut of 19 points, 12 boards, four dimes, and two blocks. Hong Kong’s shooters couldn’t find their mark from downtown as Lee Ki, John Siu, and Adam Xu went 0-for-12.
With the win, Mono Vampire sit on top of the team standings with a 4-1 record while Eastern remain winless after three games.
