The Mono Vampire Basketball Club captured a seat in the ABL playoffs after defeating the CLS Knights Indonesia, 86-80, on Wednesday.
Michael Singletary posted a game-high 31 points while also pulling down 7 rebounds in the victory. Paul Zamar was also critical on the offensive end as he ended up with 21 points, including 5 three-pointers.
With the win, Mono now joins the Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team and San Miguel Alab Pilipinas as the three teams who are now in the playoffs.
It was also a come-from-behind win by the visiting squad as they were down by as much as 15 points in the third quarter. A dunk by Shane Edwards made it 52-37 with under 6 minutes remaining in the period. However, with the help of Zamar and Singletary, Mono was able to regain the lead, 60-57, heading into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, with the game tied at 78 apiece, Zamar’s fifth triple proved to be the difference. The Filipino knocked down a booming three to give his team an 81-78 advantage with roughly two minutes remaining in the contest.
After an exchange of baskets and free throws, Singletary provided the finishing blow with a shot from downtown to seal the victory.
Edwards finished the game with 24 points and 13 boards for the Knights, who have now lost three straight games.
