The Mono Vampire Basketball Club maintained their winning ways as they defeated the Formosa Dreamers, 93-85, on Wednesday in Stadium 29, Bangkok.
With the win, the Thailand squad is now 9-4 in the standings, keeping in step with league leaders Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team and Chong Son Kung Fu Basketball Club.
Michael Singletary flirted with at triple-double, racking up 32 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Towering center Samuel Deguara had 19 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. The 7’5” big man also had 2 blocks.
The two World Imports used their size and strength to register 64 points in the paint as the Dreamers struggled on the defensive end. Mono, also known to be a perimeter-oriented squad, only made four triples but made up for it with their attack in the shaded area.
Mono raced to a lead as high as 20 points, much to the delight of the home crowd.
The Dreamers though would make one last rally in the fourth period. They were down by 18 points to start the quarter after Deguara converted on his shot with 9:49 to play.
Spearheaded by Lenny Daniel, the Dreamers kept chipping away the lead. After a lay up by Ronnie Aguilar, it was already an eight-point game with less than a minute remaining. A triple by Chen Yu Han made it into a two-possession ball game. Unfortunately for the Dreamers, their run came a little too late.
Daniel scored a season-high 32 points on 13-for-21 shooting while also adding 14 rebounds. Aguilar meanwhile put up 16 points and 12 boards.
Formosa now owns a 1-9 record and have suffered their eighth straight setback.
