Former MVP and ABL Champion Marcus Elliott will be donning a Singapore Slingers jersey this upcoming ABL season. The news was first announced by the Singapore Slingers through their website and social media accounts last September 6.
The 6’3 American guard played the last three seasons with Hong Kong Eastern where he won Import MVP, Finals MVP, and an ABL championship. During his three-year stint with Eastern, Elliott posted averages of 23.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists.
With the signing, Elliott will be joining the reigning Import MVP Xavier Alexander in the Slinger’s backcourt, which some fans are already dubbing the best in the ABL.
The pair have faced each other twice in the Playoffs — the first being the 2017 Finals, where Eastern defeated the Slingers to claim the title. Elliott and Alexander matched up once again in last year’s semifinals with the Slingers sweeping Eastern to advance to the ABL Finals.
After the acquisition of Elliott, the Slingers have positioned themselves to make another run at the ever-elusive ABL title.
