San Miguel Alab Pilipinas has signed 2016 Finals MVP Jason Brickman for the 2019-2020 season. Team owner and General Manager Charlie Dy first hinted the signing with a pixelated photo of Brickman on his social media accounts.
Brickman has been designated as an import for his first three seasons in the ASEAN Basketball League. He was considered a Heritage Import in the 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons for the Westports Malaysia Dragons and Mono Vampire respectively. Last season, due to the new eligibility rules that removed the “Heritage Import” designation, he was signed as one of the three imports of Mono Vampire. However, because of his Filipino heritage, the 5’9″ point guard will be able to play as a local for his new team.
Jason Brickman boasts career averages of 12.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 10 APG while making 37% of his attempts from beyond the arc. He was also included in the Final 21 nominees for the Top 10 ABL Players of All-Time.
With Brickman being Alab’s first signing for the upcoming season, it will be interesting to see how the Philippine-based team will flesh out the rest of their roster.
