Defending champion San Miguel Alab Pilipinas is currently on top of the standings as they taken care of business at home where they are undefeated at 9-0. However, they have not performed as well on the road where they only have one win against two losses.
The Wolf Warriors will be hoping that Alab would suffer through the same struggles as the two teams face off at the Doumen Gymnasium, Zhuhai, China. Although they are dead last in the standings with a lone win against 13 losses, the Wolf Warriors have been playing better as of late and a big win over the league leaders might just give them the confidence they need to try and salvage a playoff spot in their maiden season in the ABL.
The Wolf Warriors are coming off a loss to the red-hot BTN CLS Knights Indonesia. They were able to hang with the Knights in terms of three-point shooting but were beaten badly on the inside.
There were two silver linings for them though as Mike Taylor matched his ABL career high with 32 points. For his team to have a better shot at winning, he will have to score in the high 20s or even in the 30s consistently.
Cai Chen also had a high scoring game with 25 points against the Indonesian squad. On paper, there was nothing wrong about the offense that the Wolf Warriors displayed against the Knights but their defense was just too porous to put up a decent fight.
For Alab, they are coming off another home win against Hong Kong Eastern. Although they played poorly in the first half, the defending champions woke up in the third quarter and only needed one big run to pull away.
PJ Ramos starred for Alab as he relished another opportunity to go up against Sam Deguara. The Puerto Rican import once again got his bigger foe in early foul troubles as Deguara was not able to score on a single field goal in the contest.
Ray Parks was still not available for Alab in their last game due to a groin injury but it was not a huge problem as Ethan Alvano and Josh Urbiztondo did a great job in tag-teaming at the point position. However, Parks said he might be ready to play against the Wolf Warriors.
