Two teams on opposite ends of the team standings face off this Wednesday as the new league-leading Formosa Dreamers (18-6) visit last placers Wolf Warriors (2-22).
Formosa is on top of the mountain with an 18-6 record while the Zhuhai squad is 2-22. The Dreamers are on an eight-game winning streak, while the Wolf Warriors are on an eight-game losing streak. If the Dreamers get the win, they will secure the number one seed in the playoffs.
Formosa jumped to first place after handing San Miguel Alab Pilipinas their lone home loss of the season. The big three of Malcolm Miller, Tevin Glass, and Will Artino who delivered once again for the Taiwanese team against the defending champions. They were responsible for 73 points with Miller leading the way with his all-around performance of 27 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Another good sign for the Dreamers is that Miller’s disqualifying foul has been rescinded by the league thus he will not be suspended for the matchup against the Wolf Warriors.
The Wolf Warriors meanwhile gave a valiant effort against the Macau Black Bears but still suffered an 89-81 defeat. They were not able to capitalize on the absence of Mikh McKinney who was resting. Cai Chen powered his way to 31 points on 13-for-27 shooting, while grabbing nine rebounds. Cai remains is the leading local scorer with 19.1 points per game. His 31 points vs Macau was the third time this season that he’s scored at least 30 points. Mike Bell returned to the Wolf Warriors’ lineup with a bang with 21 points 1nd 15 rebounds. He’s averaged 16.2 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists so far.
The Formosa Dreamers hope to clinch the top seed in Wednesday’s game but the Wolf Warriors are hoping for a monumental upset.
