The red hot Saigon Heat travel to Malaysia, as they take on the Westports Malaysia Dragons in a brand new week of ABL basketball action.
Tipoff is set for 8:30PM at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Both teams are fresh from victories, as the Dragons snapped a four game losing streak by defeating the Formosa Dreamers 85-74 on January 14. The Heat on the other have been giant killers, as they’ve dealt the first loss of both the Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team and Chong Son Kung Fu.
The Heat have been energized by the arrival of new Heritage Import Mike Williams and World Import Maxie Esho, as they were judged as ABL Player Of The Week in their respective categories. Esho is fresh from an impressive 35 point and 12 rebound performance against Chong Son Kung-Fu, as he helped them win 96-93. He has had back to back stellar games, helping the Heat shock the ABL world. His versatility and athleticism gives teams problems, as he’s able to take bigger opponents to the perimeter and attack from the outside.
For the Dragons, World Import Marcus Marshall was huge down the stretch. He hit clutch baskets to keep the Dreamers at bay, preventing a comeback from the visiting squad. The Dragons snapped a four game losing skid, as Marshall dropped 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. He’s the team’s scoring machine, and has been putting up gaudy scoring numbers as of late for Malaysia.
This head to head encounter will also feature an intriguing matchup, as fellow Heritage Imports Joshua Munzon and Mike Williams collide. It’s defense versus offense, as the pesky Munzon takes his first crack at the red hot Williams. Munzon was a thief in the win against the Dreamers, racking up 5 steals in the contest. Williams on the other hand scattered three triples versus Kung-Fu, en route to 24 points.
The Heat made the ABL take notice of them in a major way, while the Dragons are ready to rise in the standings. Witness the intense action at the Dragons’ Den, as ABL action gets ready to roll on Wednesday night.
