It’s a race to the top as the ABL basketball action intensifies with the newly christened San Miguel Alab Pilipinas taking on the Singapore Slingers in their fourth and final match of the regular season.
Gametime is set for 4PM at the OCBC Arena.
The Slingers are fresh from a hard fought Causeway Rivalry win, as they swept the Westports Malaysia Dragons in two games. The last one was a thrilling double overtime victory against the Dragons, where they had to play 50 minutes to outlast the visiting Malaysia squad, 90-89.
Xavier Alexander towed the team to the win, as he registered 32 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and a whopping 7 steals. Singapore needed every point and stat, as they were in a dogfight against the Dragons. Alexander is in the midst of another stellar season, and has shown no sign of slowing down.
San Miguel Alab Pilipinas was locked into their own overtime battle, this time dealing Chong Son Kung Fu their second loss of the season, 94-91. Ray Parks Jr. paced his squad with 31 points on 11/18 field goals, to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
The reigning local MVP was stellar against Chong Son Kung Fu. All season long, Parks has been willing to do whatever the team needs in support of their talented imports Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman. But with this performance, Parks silenced all doubters, as he put up one of his performances in one of the best games of the season.
This is the final matchup between Alab and the Slingers. Singapore is currently leading the series 2-1, while Alab Pilipinas’ lone win in the series was an exciting overtime game ending at 89-80 in the OCBC Arena. New World Imports Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman were huge factors in grabbing their first victory of the season against Singapore. Will they even the series, or will the Slingers prove their might against the visting team?
