The Singapore Slingers carry their four-game winning streak to Vietnam as they face the very formidable Saigon Heat this Sunday.
The Slingers lost their season-opener but have remained undefeated in four straight contests. They’re coming off a 99-77 victory over the Wolf Warriors where Jerran Young lit up the scoreboard for 27 points. Singapore also got a huge boost from the locals as Larry Liew chipped in 18 points off the bench, earning him Player of the Week honors.
Singapore is currently third in the standings with a 4-1 record.
The Heat are likewise fresh from a dominant 105-86 win over the Wolf Warriors last Thursday. Murphy Burnatowski caught fire from beyond the arc to finish with 35 points, anchored by seven triples. The Heat recently replaced Trevon Hughes with DeAngelo Hamilton. In his second game for Saigon, he collected 11 points and seven boards.
Saigon is similarly on a hot start this season as it has accumulated five wins and only two losses.
Of all the interesting matchups in this Sunday’s game, the battle inside the paint will play a significant role. John Fields and Kyle Barone are their respective team’s anchor. Both of them consistently put up 20 points a game and pull down double-digit rebounds. The control of the glass will be critical for both Saigon and Singapore.
Can the Slingers make it five straight or will the Heat prevail and get their sixth win?
