Playoff-bound squads San Miguel Alab Pilipinas and Saigon Heat would want nothing more than to end their regular season on a winning note as these two teams face each other this Sunday at the CIS Arena in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Vietnam is sixth in the standings with a 13-2 record while Alab is at number two with 18 wins and seven losses.
The defending champions are currently on a three-game losing skid and will look to bounce back from their lone home loss of the season against the Formosa Dreamers. The trio of Malcolm Miller, Tevin Glass, and Will Artino conspired to give the Dreamers an 88-74 win.
For the Philippine side, Ray Parks put up 24 points, seven rebounds, and five assists as Alab was still missing key players. Lo Domingo and Brandon Rosser are still nursing their knee injuries. While World Import Renaldo Balkman is recuperating from a broken nose and it’ll be interesting to see if he suits up for their last regular season game. Should Alab still play without Balkman, they’ll need huge contributions from Parks as well as PJ Ramos.
The Heat meanwhile are fresh off a win over Singapore Slingers, arresting their three-game losing streak. With De Angelo Hamilton leading the way, the Heat captured the 81-69 victory. The Heat also received added firepower from their locals as Tran and Cilia combined for 18 points and five triples. The Heat will need more support from their locals, especially in the postseason.
As the playoffs draw near, the defending champions hope to get back on track while the Heat look to improve their seeding.
