Fresh from a heartbreaking defeat, the Saigon Heat would want nothing more than to get a bounce-back win at home versus the visiting Mono Vampire Basketball Club.
The Heat were victims of a buzzer beater from Winston Shepard in their last game as the Westports Malaysia Dragons came away with an 84-82 victory. Saigon was up double-digits at the start of the fourth quarter but the Malaysian squad made a furious rally in the endgame and inevitably got the victory.
The Dragons’ come-from-behind win also spoiled the return of Trevon Hughes into the Heat lineup. Hughes has been activated from the injured list and replaced DeAngelo Hamilton. Hughes, the team’s leading scorer, ended up 20 points, six rebounds, and seven assists despite the loss. He looked like his usual self and seemingly had no traces of his hamstring injury which he suffered back in early December. His aggressiveness and penetration should open up more scoring opportunities for Murphy Burnatowski and Kyle Barone
The Mono Vampire Basketball Club are also coming off a tough defeat, losing on the road against Hong Kong Eastern. To make matters worse for the Thailand squad, new World Import Malcolm White sustained a hamstring injury in the second quarter. He was still able to finish the game and tallied a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Mono is hoping that it’s nothing serious, especially with Chris Charles also sidelined.
Mono Vampire (1-6) are gunning for their second win while the Heat (6-4) aim for win number seven.
