The Mono Vampire Basketball Club clinched the last playoff spot at the expense of the Westports Malaysia Dragons last Sunday.
After starting the season with a 2-12 record, the Thailand squad fought al the way back, winning eight of their last 10 games. They are now 10-14 for the season. The Dragons meanwhile are 7-17 and will miss the playoffs for the third straight year after winning the title in the 2015-2016 season.
These two teams conclude their season series this Wednesday at Stadium 29 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
In their last meeting, Mono played to their potential with six players reaching double figures. Michael Singletary had his usual numbers of 20 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. Romeo Travis also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.
However, the difference for Mono was the production of Tyler Lamb as the Thai-American tallied 18 points and five assists. Moses Morgan was equally brilliant with 14 points, including four treys off the bench.
Mono needed a team effort to survive a masterful performance from Winston Shepard who collected a triple-double of 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists. His huge game fell in vain however as the Dragons failed to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Even though the playoff cast is already set, Mono Vampire will still look to extend their five-game winning streak. As for the Dragons, they’ll be eager to avenge their loss versus Mono Vampire.
