Tanduay Alab Pilipinas and Mono Vampire Basketball Club collide for the first time this season in ASEAN Basketeball League Sunday action.
Game time is set for 7:00 PM at Stadium 29, Bangkok City.
Mono Vampire puts their two game winning streak on the line against an Alab squad that’s fresh from a 90-80 loss to the Singapore Slingers. Alab Pilipinas saw it’s three game losing streak snapped, as AJ Mandani exploded for 11 points in the fourth quarter for the Slingers.
Alab World Import Renaldo Balkman was engaged in a battle with the bigs of Singapore, and came out with a solid double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Balkman has provided the inside presence that Alab has sorely needed this season. Look for him to be even better as he gets more conditioned and familiar with his teammates.
The home team Mono Vampire on the other hand was able to defeat the Westports Malaysia Dragons in their previous matchup 115-11. The game featured an impressive debut from Mike Singletary, who replaced Patrick Sanders as their World Import. Singletary had a team high 27 points on 5/7 from the three point line.He wasted no time fitting in with the squad, despite fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Mono Vampire was able to buck the absence of Mike Singletary in the fourth quarter due to five personal fouls, finding a way to win via the clutch play of Jason Brickman and Paul Zamar.
Mono Vampire has gotten splendid play all season long from their locals, and that continued to be the case vs the Dragons. Teerawat Chanthachon had a solid game of 13 points and 9 rebounds to help Mono Vampire win their second straight versus the Dragons.
Tanduay Alab Pilipinas on the other hand will need a better finishing kick, as they were outscored 26-16 in the final canto. Their defense will be tested as they take on big man Sam Deguara, as Singletary.
