The Macau Black Bears host the Formosa Dreamers inside the N8 UM Sports Complex University of Maca , as two teams in the midst of the ABL playoff hunt go head to head. Gametime is set for 8PM local time.
With a 9-5 slate, the Dreamers are currently in 3rd place in the standings, with the Black Bears giving chase at 4th place with a 7-5 record. Both teams have had their struggles as of late, only winning two of their last five contests.
The Dreamers took care of business against the Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team, as they welcomed back World Import Will Artino to the lineup. He was instrumental in helping Formosa pick up the win against the tough Hong Kong squad.
Banking on a big third quarter, the Dreamers were able to pull away for the 92-86 win on the road against Hong Kong Eastern. The Dreamers broke open the tight ball game by outscoring Hong Kong 28-16 in the period, and did an excellent job protecting the ball with only 7 turnovers in the entire contest.
The Dreamers missed Artino greatly for the past three games, and he made up for lost time with a monster 28 point performance. Though he wasn’t able to get his usual rebounding numbers, just having his presence and versatility on the floor went a big way towards picking up the victory
The Black Bears on the other hand cruised to the victory over the Zhuhai Wolf Warriors, in a blowout victory that saw them lead by as many as 39 points.
In a game between two teams sporting identical three game losing streaks, it was the Black Bears that came out determined to end their losing ways racking up a blowout win 107-81. A 29-16 start in the first quarter set the tone the rest of the way, as they led by as many as 39 points against the shorthanded Wolf Warriors missing Mike Bell
Ryan Watkins came one point shy of tying his ABL career high, as he towed the Black Bears with a huge double-double of 31 points and 18 rebounds. Watkins hasn’t been shy about testing his range as well, as he made three triples in the contest.
Eager to start a new winning streak, the Dreamers and Black Bears collide in an intriguing matchup. Which talented squad will come out on top?
