It has been a tough debut season for the Formosa Dreamers. But throughout all the losses, they found have found ways to be competitive, and to fight until the bigger end. They have their last chance to end the season with a win, as they host the Singapore Slingers in Sunday ABL action.

Tipoff is scheduled for 3PM, local time at the Changhua Stadium. It is the final game of the ABL season for Formosa.

Despite the Dreamers’ best efforts, they were simply outclassed by a red hot Chong Son Kung Fu in the 105-83 loss. The loss was Formosa’s 15th straight of the season, and are looking to avoid coming close to the all-time losing record of 17 straight losses.

Cameron Forte did the heavy lifting for the Dreamers in their loss to Chong Son Kung Fu, finishign with 33 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists. He helped lead a semi-comeback after three quarters, getting his team to within 12 points before eventually falling short. One can only wonder about the Dreamers’ chances if Forte had been with them at the start of the season.

The Slingers on the other hand are motivated to grab a win, as they are looking to cement their hold on the fifth seed in the Playoffs. At 10-18 and with the 9-9 Saigon Heat breathing down their necks, the Slingers will need to play great basketball in order to fight off Saigon.

It was a disappointing outcome for the Slingers in their previous game, as they were upset by the CLS Knights in the final home game of the Knights this season. What makes it more disappointing was the Slingers’ winning streak that was snapped at three straight. Instead of coming closer to wrapping up their spot in the Playoffs, they will have to work double time against the Dreamers in their penultimate regular season match.

Xavier Alexander filled the stat sheet for the Slingers, leading the team with 18 points, rebounds and 6 assists. But it wasn’t enough to avert disaster and the loss to the Knights. The ever reliable Alexander was able to contribute across the board, but when it came time to get a stop and a basket, the X-Man wasn’t able to take care of business.

It was a slugfest the last time these two squads met in the OCBC Arena, as the Slingers grabbed a 72-65 victory. The Slingers were able to come away with the win, but not before the Dreamers gave everything they had to upset Singapore on the road. Can Formosa end their season with a stunning upset over last year’s ABL finalists?
