Two early season contenders go head-to-head this Sunday as the Formosa Dreamers take on the Singapore Slingers.
Dreamers got back to their winning ways and improve to a 7-2 record after trumping CLS Knights Indonesia, 82-72, on Saturday. They were coming off two straight losses and were eager to bounce back in front of their home crowd. They faced the new-look CLS Knights who boasted two new World Imports in Darryl Watkins and Douglas Herring. The home squad relied on their top guns as Will Artino and Malcolm Miller combined for 48 points and 22 rebounds.
Just a day after their win, the Dreamers will have to immediately shift their focus on the visiting Singapore Slingers.
The Slingers, who have five wins and three losses so far, are raring to get back on the win column after two consecutive tough losses, including their most recent one against San Miguel Alab Pilipinas. John Fields fired away 35 points but it wasn’t enough to topple the defending champions.
Fields will be pitted against Artino as the two high-scoring big men will go at it. Fields is a monster underneath the basket who can easily rack up huge numbers any given night. Artino, on the other hand, relies more on his shooting from the outside to not only get his points but also to help space the floor for his squad. The two centers are both coming off solid performances and it’ll be interesting to see how one will fare against the other.
The Dreamers are fresh from a win but can they sustain their momentum against the visiting Slingers?
