The Formosa Dreamers will finally get the chance to play at home and their two-game home-stand against Hong Kong Eastern. After a mighty struggle in their maiden ABL season, Formosa has completely turned things around as they are currently on top of the standings with four wins without a single defeat.
The Dreamers were tested in their last game by the Saigon Heat but still managed to pull through in the overtime period. Against the hot-shooting Saigon squad, Formosa dominated the shaded area, winning the rebounding and inside scoring categories. Will Artino saved the Dreamers in the extra period as his only made free throw in the game proved to be the only difference between the two teams.
What’s good about Formosa this season is that they have a solid crop of imports in Artino, Tevin Glass, and Malcolm Miller while also getting enough support from their locals. Kenneth Chien and Chen Shih Nien, in their last game, combined for 22 points and eight rebounds.
Hong Kong Eastern, on the other end, is coming off nice bounce-back wins against the Wolf Warriors in their last two games. The former ABL champion finally got the correct balance between using their speed and still involving Sam Deguara in the game. Eric Ferguson had another huge game against the Wolf Warriors as he dropped 36 points and grabbed 12 rebounds after picking up 26 and 10 in their first meeting.
What’s important for Formosa is to make sure that they do not use up all their energy against Hong Kong Eastern as they’ll have to turn around and face the Mono Vampire Basketball Club the day after. The Thai squad is hungry for a win so the Dreamers will have to budget their efforts and make sure they’ll have enough gas left in the tank.
