The Formosa Dreamers have not scored a win at home yet in their maiden ABL season and they may not get a chance better than what’s in front of them as they take on the CLS Knights Indonesia.
Playing the back end of another home back-to-back, the Dreamers take on the only other squad in the lead that has only one win to show for. Incidentally, that lone win for CLS came at Formosa’s expense.
Back on November 18, the Knights bucked in injuries suffered by their Wold Import Duke Crews and Brian Williams to score a 94-73 victory over the Dreamers in Indonesia. Coach Koko Nugroho used all of his 12 players in that game and they all managed to chip in at least two points. That win made the Knights hopeful about their rookie season. Little did they know that they’d be winless for the next two months and counting.
CLS dropped their next eight games after that win with the last one being a 104-81 beatdown at the hands of the league-leading Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team.
The Knights are hoping that their replacement import Shane Edwards, a veteran of international basketball, will jive quickly with Brian Williams who’s averaging a monster double-double with 18.1 points and 16.2 rebounds per game.
Formosa, on the other end, is coming off a painful loss to Chong Son Kung Fu. For three quarters it looked like the Dreamers may just score the biggest upset of the ABL season as they took it to the Nanhai-based team. Formosa simply did not have the experience to close out the game.
Now, with tired legs after trying really hard against Kung Fu, the Dreamers will welcome another visitor with less than 24 hours of rest. World Imports Lenny Daniel and Ronnie Aguilar will still be spear-heading the attack for Formosa and they’ll also bank on Wu Sung Wei and Yang Tian You to provide points for them.
