The Chong Son Kung Fu Basketball Club aim to inch closer to earning an outright semifinals berth but standing in their way will be the Formosa Dreamers. The two teams lock horns this Saturday, March 17, at the Changhua Stadium in Changhua City.
Chong Son is the hottest team in the league having won their last four games against playoff bound teams. In their recent four-game home stand, they took down Mono Vampire Basketball Club, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas, and beat the defending champions Hong Kong Eastern twice. They remained undefeated at home with a spotless 10-0 record.
Chong Son’s tremendous success in the past couple of games can be attributed a lot to the contributions of Mikh McKinney. Justin Howard and Anthony Tucker is usually the 1-2 punch of Kung Fu but McKinney does a lot of intangibles for his team. For the season, the Filipino-American is averaging 22.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.3 steals. He is also a serious contender for being named this season’s Heritage Import MVP.
The Dreamers meanwhile are the exact opposite of Kung Fu when it comes to defending home court. They are currently 0-8 at home, but will look to end their season on a strong note in front of their fans at the Changhua Stadium.
Cameron Forte has been an offensive machine for the struggling Dreamers. He is the league’s top gunner with 32.0 points a game and his scoring prowess can hopefully give the Dreamers the much-needed victory.
Speaking of Forte, you can also expect a lot of fireworks when he goes head-to-head with Anthony Tucker of Kung Fu. The two are ticking time bombs when it comes to putting the basketball in the hoop – one way or another, they find a way to explode and score in bunches.
Forte will try to single-handedly change the fortunes of his team being the team’s main offensive weapon. Inversely, Tucker, who is averaging almost a triple-double, is the focal point for his team’s offense and will also look to facilitate.
Chong Sun is reaching for the top two spots at the end of the elimination round. On the other hand, the Dreamers are just hoping to finally end their 14-game losing streak and win one at home.
