The streaking Macau Black Bears are looking for their fourth straight win as they visit the CLS Knights Indonesia this Sunday.
The Black Bears are second in the league standings, boasting a 6-2 record. They were back from a month-long hiatus and they showed little rust, disposing the Formosa Dreamers last Wednesday. Anthony Tucker poured in a career-high 43 points in the 116-110 victory. The reigning World Import MVP displayed his shooting touch, going 7-of-12 from beyond the arc. He’s currently putting up 29.8 points and 9.3 assists this season.
The Knights are similarly coming off a win. They showed no mercy against the Mono Vampire Basketball Club as they earned a 110-82 win behind Maxie Esho’s 39-point performance. The versatile forward was three points shy of his career-high 42 points, a feat he achieved back when he was still with the Saigon Heat.
Expect Esho and Tucker to put their fingerprints all over the ball game but the battle at the center position is also worth noting.
A pair of Watkins will go head-to-head as Indonesia’s Darryl Watkins take on Macau’s Ryan Watkins. The latter has been a total beast for the Black Bears in the eight games he’s played so far. He’s averaging 22.8 points and shooting 63 percent from the field while leading the league in rebounding with 16 per game. Darryl Watkins, on the other hand, had a quiet ABL debut but bounced back with a better performance in his second game. He had a huge double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds versus Mono. These two centers will certainly demand attention in the painted area.
Can the Black Bears continue their winning streak and get their seventh victory of the season or do the Knights defend home court and earn back-to-back wins?
