The hottest team in the league, the BTN CLS Knights put their five game winning streak on the line against the Westports Malaysia Dragons at the GOR Kertajaya in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The Knights have been the talk of the league, relying on red hot shooting displays to overwhelm and run through their opponents in this stretch of the season. Behind terrific play of World Imports and a rejuvenated Wong Wei Long and Brandon Jawato, the Knights will look to work their magic on the Dragons this time.
Once again the Knights looked unstoppable against the Wolf Warriors. With 36 assists in the contest, the Indonesia-based squad showed off their unselfishness, and share the wealth mentality. And with their determination to attack the paint with 70 points in the shaded area, the Knights cruised to their fifth straight victory, 132-104.
The high flying Maxie Esho looked stellar against the Wolf Warriors, who simply had no match for his energy on offense and defense. With 27 points and 10 rebounds, Esho has been an energizer for the Knights, and one of the most fun players to watch in the ABL.
On the opposite spectrum, the Malaysia-based squad has come into hard times as of late, losers of three straight games in this stretch.
In a game that the Dragons were hardly in, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas seized control with the 38-point win, 85-47. The Dragons shot a paltry 22% from the field, and had little contributions off the bench with 10 points compared to 35 for the Alab second unit.
It was a disastrous performance for the Dragons, and very few players stood out. Winston Shepard led the team with 12 points, 5 rebounds and a block, but it was week production for what was a disappointing game for the visiting squad.
The Dragons are looking to shock the Knights similar to how they dealt the defending champions San Miguel Alab Pilipinas their first loss this season. Can they rediscover the same magic and end the Knight’s winning ways?
