The BTN CLS Knights will look to keep their win streak going, as they face the Saigon Heat in a battle of two squads jockeying for position in the ABL Playoffs. Both teams have already qualified to the next round, but they’re trying to rise as high as possible.
The Knights won a thriller in overtime against the Singapore Slingers, in a game that needed five extra minutes to decide. They’ve been vastly improved compared to last season, banking on the tremendous play of their World Imports, and solid support from the locals.
It took an additional five minutes, but the Knights were eventually able to take care of business and win a 99-95 overtime win over the Singapore Slingers. The Knights actually held a 15 point advantage, but the Slingers rallied back to force OT courtesy of clutch free throws from Jerran Young. But the Knights were able to recover in the extra inning and grab the key victory.
The multi-dimensional Douglas Herring was stellar all throughout for the Knights. He tallied 36 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals, and was instrumental in the Knights picking up the win over their rivals Singapore Slingers. What will Herring do in his encore match against the Heat?
The Heat on the other hand have been up and down as of late, losers of their last 2 games. This is definitely how they want to enter the playoffs, and they need a good finish in order to put their squad up their with the rest of the contenders in the ABL.
The Dragons looked like a squad that knew this was a must-win game, thus they left it all out on the floor to pick up an 80-76 victory over the Saigon Heat. The visiting squad were simply outworked by the Dragons, and turnovers were a culprit- the Heat committed 13 turnovers, and the Dragons with 21 points off of them.
The man in the black mask Kyle Barone was stellar in his performance against the Westports Malaysia Dragons. With 32 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists in the contest, Barone did everything within his power to keep the fight going for the Heat.
With a scant few games remaining in the eliminations, the Knights and Heat are locking horns for a chance to rise higher. Which team will take advantage of the opportunity?
