Chris Banchero entered the ASEAN Basketball League as a hot prospect coming out of Seattle Pacific University.
The then 23-year-old Fil-Italian joined the San Miguel Beermen in 2012 to form a formidable title contender.
Alongside ABL titans Leo Avenido and Asi Taulava, who signed with Beermen in 2013, Banchero helped the team propel their way to the top of the standings in two consecutive seasons.
Although they came up short in the 2012 ABL Finals against the Indonesia Warriors, the Beermen were ready for another shot at the title the following year.
This time around, Chris Banchero became not only a hot prospect but as a rising star. Banchero proved to be one of the league’s best point guards in 2013 — eventually helping the team storm back to the Finals.
The dauntless cager continued to showcase his talents and abilities as they faced the Indonesia Warriors for the second Finals in a row. With his heroics, Banchero helped the Beermen fend off the Warriors in a series sweep.
Chris Banchero not only became a champion but was also awarded as the Finals MVP, an accolade that he will bring throughout his glorious basketball career.
