The ABL All-Time Ten honoree Steven Thomas is making his comeback in the 10th season of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) suiting up for the Macau Wolf Warriors.
Thomas last played for the Hi-Tech Bangkok City in 2016 and finished the season averaging 12 PPG 12.9 rebounds.
During the Season Launch on October 10, he mentioned the growth of the league since his return to the league.
“The ABL has grown so much now, there are more teams that are way more competitive [now] than when I first played here,” he said. “The main thing is to play it together, man.”
The All-Time Ten honoree made his name as one of the league’s reliable defenders with an outstanding record of 1,519 total rebounds, 563 of which are under offensive rebounds.
Thomas acknowledged that the Wolf Warriors are not the strongest team compared to other teams but he believes that “Hard work beats talent when talent no longer works,” he said.
Although they haven’t had much success in the league, Thomas assured the fans of the team and of the ABL that they will be giving their all on the basketball court.
The lack of veteran presence is what convinced Wolf Warriors executive Joaquim Lobo to bring back the ABL legend into the league.
According to Lobo, the team wanted to improve their game in all aspects and Thomas was the perfect player to play the role.
Steven Thomas’ comeback game is set to happen on November 23 against Mikh McKinney and the Macau Black Bears.
“To the fans, come out and support us. I’m happy to be back,” Thomas said.
