It’s day 3 in SEA Games 2017 Men’s Basketball! While most of the ABL players were off-duty on their rest day, there was still plenty of action to go around.
The day started with Cambodia going up against Laos with the former winning, 93-58.
Singapore then played in the marquee matchup of the day against Indonesia where both teams came into undefeated. A win would give one of them a good handle on the top position of their group.
The two teams were locked up at 35 points at the end of the first half, where the low-scoring affair was dominated by scrappy plays in the post. Singapore failed to score a single point in the last five minutes of the game, as Indonesia stormed away with 70-54 win.
Larry Liew and Leon Kwek of the Singapore Slingers both had 10 points apiece, but Singapore needed much more offensive contribution.
ABL 2011 Local MVP, Mario Wuysang, logged another all around game with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 asissts.
In the final Men’s Basketball game of the day, the Philippines were able to easily beat Myanmar 129-34.
The Alab Pilipinas duo, Kiefer Ravena and Bobby Ray Parks Jr., played in limited minutes in this game. Ravena put in 4 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Parks Jr. had 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Raymar Jose, who played as a Heritage Import for the Kaohsiung Truth last season, took advantage of his playing time and scored a game-high 22 points to go with 5 rebounds.
The wins from Indonesia and Philippines temporarily puts them in the top of their groups, but no team has yet to lock up a Semi-Finals spot so far in SEA Games 2017 Men’s basketball.
