With only four games on tap last week, the ABL has three new awardees as its Players of the Week. Mono Vampire, Hong Kong Eastern, Westports Malaysia, and Singapore all took care of their lone assignments. Saigon also lost their only game this week and the teams at the tail end of the standings, CLS Knights and Formosa Dreamers, continued their slide.

Two members of the Slingers and a Dragon  got the nod for this weeks awards.

World Import Player of the Week

Chris Charles, Singapore Slingers

Statistically, Chris Charles had one of the best performances in the ABL this season as he helped the Slingers blow out the Saigon Heat 94-76. He had a decent scoring night with 24 points on 12 of 26 shooting from the field but the effort that he put in on the other aspects of the game was awe-inspiring as the long-time ABL import added 29 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 blocks to his tally.

Cameron Forte had two monster games this week and he could have easily won the award but Formosa lost both games to Hong Kong Eastern and Westports Malaysia Dragons.

Notable contenders:

Cameron Forte, Formosa Dreamers - 36.5 PPG, 18.5 RPG, 4 APG, 2 SPG
Christopher Eversley, Westports Malaysia Dragons - 38 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists

Heritage Import Player of the Week

AJ Mandani, Singapore Slingers

Another first time awardee, AJ Mandani was red-hot from the field against the Saigon Heat. Usually, Mandani’s best games are reserved for Alab Pilipinas has he’s always eager to make a statement against his fellow Filipinos but this time he took out his frustrations on the Saigon Heat.

Mandani’s numbers have been up and down this season but if he contributes consistently for the Slingers, they could be a big threat in the playoffs.

Notable Contender:

Jason Brickman, Mono Vampire - 8 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists, 2 steals

Joshua Munzon, Westports Malaysia Dragons - 29 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks

Local Player of the Week

Wong Yi Hou, Westports Malaysia Dragons

In terms of numbers, the best performance this week from a local came from the CLS Knights Indonesia with Mario Wuysang against Mono Vampire. However, they ended up losing that game so the Player of the Week award for locals goes to Wong Yi Hou of Westports Malaysia.

Yi Hou may only have had 6 points and 4 rebounds but he scored an important basket in the fourth quarter and played solid defense throughout the match against Formosa.

Notable Contender:

Mario Wuysang, CLS Knights Indonesia - 18 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists
