The Singapore Slingers were able to overcome Chris Commons” 37 points effort, beating Brunei Barracudas 81 – 74 to earn their first road victory of the season in Wednesday night’s AirAsia ABL solo showdown.
Slingers’ season leading scorer Leonidez Avenido was quiet for the whole night, but able to shine during crucial moment as his 3 pointer broke a 67 tied and triggered a 12 – 2 run to give the Slingers 79 – 70 cushion with 1:46 left in the game. Avenido scored 8 points during the decisive run and finished with 15 points 5 rebounds & 3/5 from downtown.
Slingers inside combo carried the offense all game long before Avenido last quarter heroic, with Kyle Jeffers having another double-double of 17 points 13 rebounds, and Marcus Skinner finished with 9 rebounds and a team high 25 points.
