For the second straight time, Qingde Wu of the Singapore Slingers is named the ASEAN Basketball League’s (ABL) Player of the Week.
Wu was the best player of the biggest game in the week where the Slingers grabbed the solo first spot with a touch 83-80 win over the defending champion Hi-Tech Bangkok City at the OCBC Arena.
Still playing off the bench, the spark plug scored 19 point in only 28 minutes on the floor. He also added 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist without committing a single turnover. Wu finished with five triples and shot an efficient 7 of 12 from the field.
Reggie Johnson started off the week with a dominant 36-point, 8-rebound output in a 99-74 win for the Westports Malaysia Dragons over the Pilipinas MX3 Kings. In that game, Johnson’s fellow import Calvin Godfrey had an equally outstanding performance with 23 points, 21 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks.
On the same day, two imports from two different teams also showed up big time as Steven Thomas posted 16 points and 20 rebounds to lead Hi-Tech Bangkok City to an 88-82 win over the Saigon Heat who were led by Lenny Daniel’s 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Godfrey then had another monstrous performance against Mono Vampire Basketball Club as he led the Dragons to a 94-81 win with 39 points and 14 rebounds.
