For the first in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), a player from the Mono Vampire Basketball Club is receives the Player of the Week honors.
Anthony McClain had a monster performance as they hosted and defeated the Pilipinas MX3 Kings, 76-74. The big man finished with 26 points on an outstanding 11 of 15 shooting from the field. He also added 17 rebounds, an assists and 3 blocks for an all-around performance.
It was the second win for the young ABL franchise as they now stand at 2-7, just outside of the top four.
In the same, Arizona Reid went off for the Kings with 26 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and a block but he committed 7 turnovers in the contest as Pilipinas MX3 continued their free-fall.
The honorable mentions for Week 7 are led by Singapore’s Xavier Alexander who finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks as the Slingers escaped with a 62-60 win over the Heat. Saigon leaned on the effort of Lenny Daniel who had 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and 3 blocks although he struggled from the field, going only 6 of 16.
There were also many heroes for the Westports Malaysia Dragons as they dealt Hi-Tech Bangkok City their second loss.
Matt Wright scored 25 points and added 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal while Reggie Johnson muscled his way to 21 points, 13 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Chris Charles tried to carry the fight for the former league-leaders but his 22 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 blocks were not enough.
