Former Alab Pilipinas Players Lead National Teams in FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2017

Two players who played for Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League last season are leading the charge for their National Teams in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2017.

The FIBA 3×3 World Cup is the largest 3×3 event for national teams which is currently taking place in Nantes, France. There are 20 participating teams which have qualified via their respective subregions.

Of the 20 teams, there are two that feature players from Alab Pilipinas: Philippines (18th Seed) and South Korea (20th Seed)

The Philippines participating quartet includes Kiefer Ravena, who was a late inclusion to the Alab Pilipinas roster in an attempt to strengthen their roster heading into the ABL Playoffs. In his two games with Alab, he scored 16.0 points per game.

So far in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, Ravena is second on his team in scoring with 9 points over the course of two games where the Philippines have a 1-1 record. After beating Romania and losing to France in their first day of competition, the Philippines will be taking on Slovenia and El Salvador on June 20.

The South Korean team has former Alab Pilipinas World Import, Seung Jun Lee, on their team. Lee started the season as a World Import for the Philippines-based ABL team before getting replaced after 4 games. During that span, the 39-year-old scored 12.8 points and grabbed 7.8 rebounds per game.

Lee is currently tied for 4th in scoring in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup with 15 points in 2 games. South Korea has yet to log a victory after losing to both New Zealand and the Netherlands. They will be playing against Indonesia and the United States of America on June 20.
