Eastern Long Lions Stars Lead Hong Kong To FIBA Asia Championship

The Hong Kong National Team was able to beat Macau in the EABA Championship 2017 to book the final ticket to the FIBA Asia Championship 2017 to be held in Lebanon later this year.

In the decisive show down against Macau, ABL standout Fong Shing Yee of the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions was able to record an efficient 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists to help Hong Kong secure the victory.

It was an expected performance from the 33-year-old that started all 3 games who was third in the team in scoring (9.7 PPG), as well as second in rebounds (5.7 RPG) and steals (1.7 SPG).

Other than Shing Yee, fellow Eastern Long Lion teammate Lee Ki also started all 3 games for the Hong Kong National Team. The sharpshooter was a major contributor in all three games with 9.0 PPG (3rd on team) and played 19.7 MPG.

The youngest of the Eastern Long Lions trio, Chan Siu Wing, played the most minutes with 20.9 MPG and did a good job of distributing the ball with 3.0 APG (2nd on the team).

Hong Kong advance to the FIBA Asia Championship and is placed in Group D along with Japan, Chinese-Taipei, and Austrailia. The Asian Regional tournament will be played in Beirut, Lebanon from 8-20 August 2017.
