GugaWestports Malaysia Dragons will have a rare chance to play against Professional Basketball Alumni Association (PBAA) which feature some of the National Basketball Association (NBA) greats. The star studded lineup will include six-time champion, Scottie Pippen, five-time champion, Dennis Rodman, four-time champion, Horace Grant, six-time All-Star, Mitch Richmond, and dribbling and passing extraordinaire, Jason Williams.

Dragons’ point guard Guganeswaran Batumalai is excited to take part of this unbelievable experience. Guga hopes that he will be able to learn from these legends. “This is like a dream come true. I’m so excited to be able to play against all these great players. I really hope I can learn something from them,” said Guga who will most likely match-up against the flashy Jason Williams.

On his match-up against Williams, Guga admires Williams’ passing and dribbling skills.  I will try to go out there and have fun but the main thing is to learn something from them. Jason Williams was recently in the NBA so I will try to learn dribbling and passing skills from him. I also want to ask them how they mentally prepare for each of their big games.”

This event hopes to bring a lot of hype about basketball in Malaysia and also inspired young kids to play basketball. “A lot of people dream about playing against these great players. I hope it helps younger players train harder to get the opportunity to do so. I know more events like this will happen and give players hope that they can be a Dragon one day to take part in events like this, said Guga.

Guga will be joined by six other Dragons players plus  Mario Wuysang, who just won the ABL Championship with Indonesia Warriors, and Rob Wainwright of the AirAsia Philippine Patriots. The Dragons are still waiting for confirmation from a couple more other players to participate in the event.
