Press conference for game 2 at Mahaka Square

The Indonesia Warriors held a press conference this afternoon at Mahaka Square in anticipation of their must-win game on Saturday. Head Coach Todd Purves and Evan Brock were present to represent the Warriors and Head Coach Bobby Parks and Chris Banchero were also in attendance to represent their opponents this weekend, the San Miguel Beermen.

Also in attendance was the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kuhan Foo, who opened up the proceedings with his statement. Mr. Foo said, “I would like to congratulate the Beermen and the Warriors for making it to the finals. I would also like to  congratulate them  for representing the region at the FIBA ASIA Champions Cup in Lebannon. “

Warriors’ Head Coach Todd Purves will look for his team to bounce back in Game 2. “We played a tough Game 1 and we are ready to bounce back in Game 2. We had one week of preparations and we are looking forward to a great game on Saturday.”

Beermen’s Head Coach Bobby Parks was not surprised that Game 1 was only decided at the final shot. “The first game of the series didn’t surprise me that it went down to the wire because there are two great teams here. I think this says a lot about the quality of the ABL, each year has been getting better and better. “

Warriors’ top scorer Evan Brock, who suffered a groin injury in the semi-finals round, took the opportunity to update the press on his condition. “I’m feeling good. The doctors and trainers have been doing a great job. My movement is good.” said Brock, “We have our backs against the wall on Saturday. We have to focus more and execute well.  We have to play smarter also. We are basketball players, if you don’t love this part of the game, you should not be playing.”

Chris Banchero is expecting a tougher match-up after the hard-fought battle against Stanley Pringle in Game 1.  “He’s a great a player. I know coach [Parks] will make some adjusments in Game 2 but I expect him [Pringle] to come out and play his best. He’s just that type of a player.

Game 2 of the Final series will be hosted by the Indonesia Warriors at the Britama Arena in Mahaka Square, Jakarta, Indonesia and tips off at 3pm local time. This match will also be televised live regionally on ESPN.
