After a slow start to the season, the CLS Knights Indonesia are slowly starting to find their groove.

The Knights earned two straight victories for the first time this season as they came away with a 92-82 win over the Westports Malaysia Dragons on Sunday at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

Shane Edwards had a huge double-double performance of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Mario Wuysang provided a steady hand at the point guard position with a stat line of 19 points, 5 boards, and 4 dimes. The Knights also got a huge lift from their new Heritage Import Keith Jensen. The Filipino-American forward fired away 18 points, including four triples in a stellar debut.

The Knights took a 21-10 lead after the opening quarter as the Dragons struggled to find the bottom of the net. The home team eventually woke up late in the second quarter thanks to a scoring splurge from Joshua Munzon. Malaysia’s Heritage Import poured in 18 of his team-high 29 points in the second period.

However, every single time the Dragons threatened to take the lead, the Knights found a way to create distance. It also didn’t help that the Dragons were missing the presence of their star guard Marcus Marshall who was nursing an injury as well as Coach Christopher Thomas who was serving his suspension. Wong Yi Hou chipped in with 16 points and Kuek Tian Yuan added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the Dragons.

A jump shot by Ting Chun Hong made it a 9-point game with a minute and a half remaining in the game. But back-to-back baskets by Jensen and Edwards pushed the Knights lead to double-digits once again.

The Knights have now won back-to-back games after losing eight straight ball games. They now enjoy a 3-8 record, similar to the Dragons.

They look to make it three in a row when they host San Miguel Alab Pilipinas on February 11.
