The Westports Malaysia Dragons will look to protect the Dragons Den, as they take on the Mono Vampire Club for the second time this season. Gameday is set for December 2, at the MABA Gym in Kuala Lumpur.
The last time these two squads met, they figured in an instant classic- a 116-112 double overtime game that was also a historic one. Marcus Marshall set a new league high with 60 points in the win, showing that the Dragons would be different this season.
However the electric Marshall wasn’t able to sustain his terrific debut against Mono Vampire, as he struggled against the defense of Chongson Kung-Fu shooting only 3/17 from the field in the 96-81 loss.
The team got a lift with the arrival of new World Import Curtis Washington. He immediately made his presence felt, as he tallied 29 points and 9 rebounds in an impressive debut. He was able to rack up shots from inside the paint and the perimeter, showing an arsenal of moves that could blend in nicely with the rest of the Dragons.
Washington and Marshall could be a good combination for the Dragons, because they both have the ability to hit shots from everywhere on the court. Look for them to build their chemistry even further in this game against Mono Vampire.
Mono Vampire bounced back nicely from their loss to the Dragons, as they defeated the CLS Knights 98-85 in their previous game. They were led by Heritage Import Paul Zamar and World
Import Reggie Johnson, a combination that frustrated the Knights.
Paul Zamar was one of the bigger surprises in Mono Vampire’s win. Despite the presence of Reggie Johnson and Ratdech Kruatiwa, it was Zamar that led the team in scoring and ultimately the victory, picking up 22 points in the victory. Zamar also did a great job of moving the ball around, as he finished with 6 assists.
Reggie Johnson continued to beast against the ABL, finishing with a double-double performance of 21 points and 17 rebounds en route to the win. The Knights couldn’t stop Johnson from getting anywhere on the court, and he powered his way to the rim at will.
Now that Mono Vampire knows what’s in store for them from Marshall, can they slow down the hot shooting import? Or will the Dragons continue their winning ways against Mono Vampire?
