Even if the Singapore Slingers have stayed mostly in the middle of the standings this season, they still have an outside shot of sneaking into the top two. The first step to accomplishing that is by taking care of business on their fourth and final matchup against the CLS Knights Indonesia.
At 10-7, the Slingers need the teams above them to suffer a few upsets for a chance to head straight to the semifinals. Singapore helped their cause by scoring a huge win over Chong Son Kung Gu in their last outing. In that game, their two World Imports showed off with Chris Charles garnering another monster double-double with 32 points and 19 rebounds while Xavier Alexander flirted with another triple-double with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.
However, the big story for Singapore in that contest was the double-digit scoring of Delvin Goh, who finished with 10 points. At this stage of the tournament, the Slingers desperately need one of their locals to step up and alleviate some of the pressure on the shoulders of the prolific World Imports.
For CLS, it’s all about playing the spoiler’s role. Already out of the running for the playoffs, the Knights simply want to finish what has been a tumultuous season with a few more win on their record.
They’ll be led by Mario Wuysang who’s eager to bounce back after struggling with only 7 points and finishing with no assists in their game against Saigon. World Import Brian Williams will also be tested in this game as he’ll have to figure out a way to stay in front of the energetic Charles.
The Knights are also hoping that Shane Edwards and Keith Jensen have big games as their locals have been very silent in their past few games.
