Howard placed on Injured List, Slingers sign Schenscher to Stand In

The Singapore Slingers have placed World Import Justin Howard on the Injured List and he will be temporarily replaced by Luke Schenscher.

Howard is in his 4th season playing in the ASEAN Basketball League. This is also his second consecutive season with the Singapore Slingers after going to the ABL Finals last season. The 6’11” currently leads the ABL in rebounds (17.6 per game) and minutes played (40.8 per game) while being second in points (23.8 per game) and blocks (1.9 per game).

Howard will have to sit out these games within the next 2 weeks for the Singapore Slingers:

@ Kaohsiung Truth (February 19)
vs. Kaohsiung Truth (February 26)

His temporary replacement will be Luke Schenscher.

The 7’1″ Australian most recently played with the Townsville Heat in the Queensland Basketball League in addition to an illustrious career in the Australian National Basketball League along with stints in Germany and the NBA.

Schenscher was selected to represent the Australian senior men’s basketball team when he was in high school, becoming the first ever to achieve that feat. He followed that up by attending college in the United States of America at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2004, they made it to the NCAA Championship game and Schenscher was named to the All-Final Four Team.

He then went on to briefly play with the Chicago Bulls and the Portland Trailblazers as well as in the NBA D-League. After a short stop in Germany, Schenscher returned to Australia to play in the NBL. He went to 6 straight NBL Finals, won one championship, and was named to the All-NBL second team twice over the course of 8 seasons.

Schenscher will be available to play for the Singapore Slingers in this Sunday’s game against the Kaohsiung Truth.
